Common questions
How do I open RocketSearch?
Click the rocket icon in Chrome's toolbar, or press Alt+Shift+S. If you don't see the rocket, click the puzzle-piece icon and pin RocketSearch. You can change the shortcut from RocketSearch's Settings.
Why did it show a list of services instead of a form?
RocketSearch opens a form on its own when you're on Gmail, Outlook.com, Google, Bing or DuckDuckGo. On any other site, pick a service from the list, or choose a default service in Settings so it always opens there.
Why does Outlook.com copy the search instead of running it?
Outlook.com doesn't accept a search in its web address, so there's no link to open. RocketSearch copies your search and opens your inbox instead. Click Outlook's search box and paste with ⌘V on a Mac or Ctrl+V on Windows.
I use more than one Gmail account. Which one does it search?
The one in the tab where you opened RocketSearch. To search a different account, switch to that account's tab and click the rocket again.
My search finds nothing. What should I check?
Turn on Explain under the search to see what each part asks for. The usual culprits are a date range that's too narrow, All selected where you meant Any, or an exact phrase written differently in the message. Remove one field at a time until results appear.
Bing says my search is too long
Bing reads only the first 10 terms of a search, and RocketSearch warns you when you pass that. Drop the words that matter least, or use an exact phrase, which counts as fewer terms.
How do I move my favorites to another computer?
In Settings, choose Export to save a file. On the other computer, choose Import and pick that file. Searches you already have there are skipped, so nothing is duplicated.
How do I remove RocketSearch?
Right-click the rocket icon and choose Remove from Chrome. Everything RocketSearch stored on your computer is deleted with it, so export your favorites first if you want to keep them.
